For a Shopify store, WhatFlow is the better choice than Periskope. WhatFlow runs on the official Meta Cloud API, connects from Shopify admin, and includes COD confirmation, cart recovery, broadcasts, catalog sharing and native Shopify Flow actions on every plan, with a team inbox that has no seat fees. Periskope links regular WhatsApp numbers by QR code as linked devices, charges per user and per extra phone, and doesn't list a Shopify integration.
Funny enough, this is the exact image we're trying to shake. Plenty of people still think WhatFlow is a linked-device app for small shops. That's our older Chat Automation app, and it still serves tiny stores well. WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API is the official-API product: enterprise-ready, rated 5.0 on the Shopify App Store, with no seat fees at any team size.
WhatFlow vs Periskope at a glance
- Connection: WhatFlow uses the official Meta Cloud API via Embedded Signup. Periskope's docs link a normal or business WhatsApp number by QR code through WhatsApp's "Link device" option, and say API numbers can't be linked.
- Shopify: WhatFlow is a Shopify app with Flow triggers, actions and admin extensions. Periskope's pricing page lists HubSpot, Zoho CRM, Google Sheets, Freshdesk, Zohodesk and Zapier, but not Shopify.
- Pricing: WhatFlow is free to start, then from $4.99/month by messages sent. Periskope is $25 or $35 per user per month, plus $25 or $35 per extra phone, as of November 2026.
- Seats: None on WhatFlow. Per user on Periskope.
- Shopify features: COD confirmation, cart recovery, broadcasts and catalog sharing are on every WhatFlow plan.
- AI: Periskope includes AI credits on Pro. WhatFlow has no built-in AI bot and no AI credits to buy. Instead, WhatFlow's MCP connector lets you connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to read chats and draft replies a person approves.

Why the official API matters for a store
A linked-device tool works by attaching to the WhatsApp app on a phone, the same way WhatsApp Web does. That suits group chats and personal-style conversations, which is where Periskope is strong.
A Shopify store has different needs. You need to message customers who haven't written to you in the last 24 hours: order confirmations, shipping updates, cart recovery. On the WhatsApp Business Platform, that's done with Meta-approved templates, sent to customers who opted in. WhatFlow is built on that platform, so you get:
- Message templates (marketing, utility and authentication) with an editor in Shopify admin
- Official sending under WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy, with opt-in and opt-out handled the way Meta expects
- A green-tick-eligible business profile and messaging limits that rise as your quality holds up
If you're on a phone-based setup today, our guide to moving from the WhatsApp Business app to the API walks through the switch, and what the WhatsApp Business API is covers the basics.
How does Periskope's pricing compare with WhatFlow?
Periskope's pricing page, as of November 2026:
- Starter: $25 per user per month, first phone free, 3,000 bulk credits per license
- Pro: $35 per user per month, adds 5K AI credits and 2 automation rules per license
- Extra phones: $25 (Starter) or $35 (Pro) per month each
- Enterprise: custom, minimum of 50
An eight-person team on Pro with two numbers: 8 × $35 + 1 × $35 = $315/month.
The same team on WhatFlow:
- Seats: $0
- Plan: Growth at $29/month for 20,000 messages, or Plus at $9.99 for 5,000
- Features: every one of them, on every plan
WhatFlow's side does carry Meta's per-message fees, because that's how the official API works: Meta charges per delivered template, and since October 1, 2026 only the first 1,000 service messages per business number each month are free (Meta's pricing doc). Our WhatsApp Business API pricing guide breaks those fees down, and WhatFlow's current amounts are on the pricing page.
Which handles Shopify workflows better?
WhatFlow. Periskope is designed around chats, groups, tickets and CRM sync. WhatFlow is designed around Shopify orders.
Here's what that looks like on a COD order:
- The order is created. Shopify Flow runs WhatFlow's "send template" action.
- The customer receives:
Hi Farah, thanks for your order #5120 (Ceramic Dinner Set, PKR 12,500, cash on delivery). Tap Confirm and we'll book the courier, or Cancel if you've changed your mind.
- They tap Confirm. WhatFlow's order-reply trigger fires in Flow, which tags the order for dispatch.
The same app sends abandoned checkout recovery, shipping updates, review requests and broadcasts, and shares live catalog items from the inbox. Our COD confirmation with Flow guide shows each step.
Can WhatFlow handle a big team?
Yes. WhatFlow's team inbox gives everyone one official number with assignment, filters and saved replies, and it never charges per seat. Going from 8 agents to 40 changes nothing on your WhatFlow bill. On Periskope Pro, 40 users is $1,400 a month before extra phones.
The filters matter as much as the price. Assignment and filters let a supervisor see who owns each conversation, so a busy morning after a sale doesn't turn into guesswork about who's answering what. Our shared inbox guide covers the ownership rules we recommend.
When might Periskope still make sense?
Pick Periskope only if you specifically need to manage lots of WhatsApp groups or personal-style numbers, such as B2B communities, and Shopify order automation isn't part of the job.
The bottom line
Periskope is a strong tool for linked-device chats and groups. WhatFlow is the official WhatsApp platform for Shopify: Meta Cloud API, COD confirmation, cart recovery, broadcasts and Shopify Flow automation on every plan, and a team inbox with no seat fees. Install it free and run your first COD confirmation today.
Questions worth asking
Does Periskope use the official WhatsApp Business API?
No. Periskope's docs describe linking a normal or business WhatsApp number by scanning a QR code through WhatsApp's Link device option, and say WhatsApp API numbers can't be linked. WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API runs on the official Meta Cloud API.
How much does Periskope cost?
Periskope's pricing page lists Starter at $25 and Pro at $35 per user per month, with each additional phone also $25 or $35 a month, as of November 2026. Enterprise is custom with a minimum of 50.
Is WhatFlow a good Periskope alternative for Shopify?
Yes. WhatFlow is built for Shopify, runs on the official Meta Cloud API and includes COD confirmation, cart recovery, broadcasts, catalog sharing and Shopify Flow actions on every plan, with no seat fees.
Does WhatFlow also have a linked-device app?
Yes. WhatFlow Chat Automation is our older linked-device app for very small stores that don't want a Meta Business account. For a growing store, WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API on the official Cloud API is the one we recommend.
