WhatFlow vs Engati: Engati is a chatbot and engagement platform. WhatFlow is a WhatsApp app built only for Shopify. Engati details are from its pricing page. WhatFlow's Business API app is rated 5.0 out of 5 from 55 ratings on the Shopify App Store, as of November 5, 2026.
Bigger team? WhatFlow scales with you. It's the official Meta WhatsApp Cloud API, with Meta-approved templates and a business profile that's eligible for Meta's verified badge, an inbox with assignment and filters and no seat fees at any team size, and automation that runs inside Shopify Flow rather than in a side tool. Enterprise-ready, without enterprise pricing, and still free to start.

To be fair to Engati: it does list Shopify integration, order notifications and checkout automation in its ecommerce scope. The difference is focus and cost structure, not whether Shopify is possible.
How much does it cost: WhatFlow vs Engati?
Engati sells packages, with agent licenses as add-ons. So the bill depends on how many people answer chats. That's where small teams get stung in November, when a part-timer or two joins for the sale.
WhatFlow has no seat fees. Plans only change your message allowance: Free (100 sends), Starter $4.99 (2,000), Plus $9.99 (5,000), Growth $29 (20,000). Say you have four people on WhatsApp and send 15,000 messages a month: Growth at $29, all four in the inbox. Add Meta's per-message charges, which apply to any provider (Meta's pricing). See the pricing page and no-seat-fee vs per-seat inboxes.
Bots vs people: what Shopify customers actually ask
Bots are good at the scripted path. Customers don't always stay on it. Say a bot asks a shopper what they're looking for, and they reply: "My order arrived without the charger." No sales script handles that. Someone needs to check the order and fix it.
WhatFlow routes that message to your team inbox and can fire a Shopify Flow trigger on incoming messages, for example to tag the customer or alert your support lead. Your person answers with the order in front of them:
So sorry about that, Daniel. I can see order #3902 shipped without the charger. I've sent a replacement today, and here's the tracking: [link].

What WhatFlow does for a Shopify store
- Templates mapped to Shopify order data, with a template editor.
- COD confirmation buttons that tag or cancel orders through Flow.
- Abandoned checkout recovery and shipping updates.
- Broadcasts to opted-in customers.
- Live catalog sharing and saved replies.
- Free theme-matched WhatsApp buttons.
One honest note: WhatFlow has no built-in AI bot. If you want a bot to answer customers in natural language on its own, that's not us. If you want AI drafting with a person in control, WhatFlow's MCP connector lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor draft replies from Live Inbox chats for your team to approve. What you get instead is fast, structured automation through Shopify Flow and a team inbox nobody has to pay per seat for.
Moving your WhatsApp work to WhatFlow: a short checklist
- Keep Engati running for whatever it already does well while you set up.
- Install WhatFlow and connect your WhatsApp number with Meta's Embedded Signup from Shopify admin.
- Rebuild your most-used WhatsApp message as a template in the WhatFlow editor, mapped to Shopify order fields.
- Add one Shopify Flow workflow, for example tagging an order when the customer taps Confirm.
- Add your team to the inbox (no seat fees) and load five saved replies for your most common questions.
- Once the first workflow runs cleanly for a week, move the next one.
Start with the message that costs you the most time today. For most COD stores, that's order confirmation.
When Engati might still make sense
Pick Engati only if designing bot journeys is the main job, say lead qualification across several channels, and you have someone to build, test and maintain those flows. Check the agent licenses and ecommerce scope in your quote.
The bottom line
For WhatsApp on Shopify, WhatFlow keeps it simple: order-aware templates, COD confirmation, native Flow and a no-seat-fee inbox, all on the Free plan. Install it, run your order messages through it, and let your team handle the conversations bots can't.
Questions worth asking
Is WhatFlow a simpler alternative to Engati for Shopify?
Yes. WhatFlow is built only for Shopify WhatsApp: templates mapped to orders, COD confirmation, native Shopify Flow triggers and a team inbox with no seat fees, all on the Free plan. Engati is a broader bot platform; choose it if designing chatbot journeys is your main goal.
Does Engati charge for agents?
Engati's pricing lists agent licenses as add-ons to its packages, so check the agent count in your quote. WhatFlow's team inbox has no seat fees on any plan.
Does WhatFlow charge per inbox seat?
No. WhatFlow's team inbox has no seat fees, so your support, sales and fulfilment people can all answer WhatsApp without the bill changing. You pay for a message plan, and Meta bills its WhatsApp charges separately, as it would with Engati.
Does WhatFlow include an AI chatbot?
WhatFlow has no built-in AI bot that replies on its own. You can connect the AI you already use through WhatFlow's MCP connector, so Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can read chats and draft replies that a person approves before sending. Beyond that, it focuses on Shopify WhatsApp workflows (templates, COD confirmation, Flow triggers, catalog sharing) and a no-seat-fee inbox where your team answers. Every feature is on the Free plan, and the theme-matched button is free forever.
