WhatFlow and Brevo at a glance
| Consideration | WhatFlow | Brevo |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Shopify stores of any size, from first sale to large support teams. Admin extensions, native Shopify Flow triggers and actions, COD confirmation and a team inbox on the official Meta Cloud API. | An email-first marketing platform with contacts, campaigns and extra channels. WhatsApp is one channel among many, not the core product. |
| Pricing | Free plan, paid plans from $4.99/month (Plus is $9.99 for 5,000 sends). No seat fees. Meta's WhatsApp charges are billed separately. | WhatsApp messaging and prepaid WhatsApp credits are add-ons, so the low email entry price isn't your WhatsApp price. |
| Feature access | Every feature on every plan, including Free. Plans only change message allowances and rates. | Brevo's help docs list WhatsApp messaging and prepaid WhatsApp credits as add-ons for Professional and Enterprise plans. |
| Team inbox | Shared WhatsApp inbox with assignment, filters and saved replies. No seat fees, so add the whole team. | Users depend on the Brevo plan you buy. Check the user count against everyone who will answer WhatsApp. |
| Storefront WhatsApp button | Theme-matched WhatsApp chat buttons, free forever. | Brevo is built around campaigns rather than a Shopify storefront chat button. |
WhatFlow vs Brevo comes down to one question: do you want a WhatsApp app built for Shopify, or WhatsApp added onto an email platform? For a Shopify store, I'd pick WhatFlow. It runs on the official Meta Cloud API, every feature is on every plan (Free included), the team inbox has no seat fees, and WhatsApp messages fire straight from Shopify Flow. Keep Brevo for email if it's working.
When testing WhatFlow and Brevo, ask: Which Shopify audience do you already use? In WhatFlow, test a Shopify customer or segment send, then try scheduling a separate Inbox broadcast from a spreadsheet or existing conversations. The campaign walkthrough shows the test send, reply handoff and recipient report.

One thing to clear up, because merchants still ask: WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API runs on the official Meta WhatsApp Cloud API, not an unofficial workaround. Your number connects through Meta's Embedded Signup, templates are approved by Meta, and the setup that suits a two-person shop holds up for a 50-person support team, with inbox assignment and filters, no seat fees at any team size, and Shopify Flow automation that scales with your order volume. (Our older Chat Automation app uses a linked device; it's a separate, entry-level product.)
How much does WhatsApp cost on Brevo vs WhatFlow?
This is where most store owners get caught out. Brevo's entry price is an email price. According to Brevo's add-on documentation, WhatsApp messaging and prepaid WhatsApp credits are add-ons for the Professional and Enterprise plans. So before you send a single WhatsApp message, you're on a higher Brevo tier and buying credits on top.
WhatFlow works the other way round. The WhatFlow pricing page is a list of message allowances, and nothing else changes between plans:
- Free: every feature, 100 sends included.
- Starter, $4.99/month: 2,000 sends.
- Plus, $9.99/month: 5,000 sends.
- Growth, $29/month: 20,000 sends.
Say you send 5,000 WhatsApp messages a month: abandoned checkouts, COD confirmations and shipping updates. On WhatFlow that's the Plus plan at $9.99, with your whole team in the inbox. Push it to 8,000 sends and Plus costs $9.99 plus 3,000 × $0.004 = $21.99. Meta's own per-message charges sit on top of either tool, so compare app costs like for like and check Meta's WhatsApp pricing for your countries.

What WhatFlow does for a Shopify store
Brevo is good at newsletters. WhatFlow is good at the messages that happen around an order, which is where WhatsApp earns its keep.
Abandoned checkout recovery. The template editor pulls the customer's name, cart and checkout link from Shopify, so you write the message once and it fills itself in.
COD confirmation. If you sell cash on delivery, this one pays for itself. A customer orders, gets a WhatsApp message with buttons, and their tap tags or cancels the order in Shopify through Flow:
Hi Aisha, thanks for order #1042 (Rs 3,450, cash on delivery). Tap Confirm and we'll ship today, or Cancel if you've changed your mind.
Here's how that reply becomes a Shopify action: turn WhatsApp order replies into Shopify actions with Flow.
Shopify Flow, natively. WhatFlow adds its own triggers (incoming message, order reply, button reply, opt-out) and actions (send template, text, media) to Shopify Flow. No Zapier chain, no webhook to babysit.
Live catalog sharing. Someone asks "do you have this in navy?" and you send the product card from your Meta catalog right inside the inbox.

Who answers the replies?
WhatsApp is a two-way channel. The moment you send 5,000 messages, some customers reply, and somebody has to answer. WhatFlow's team inbox has no seat fees, so your support person, your warehouse lead and you can all be in it. Assign chats, filter by status, and use saved replies for the questions you get every day:
Your order left our warehouse this morning. Here's your tracking link: [link]. Most orders in your city arrive in 2 to 3 days.
With Brevo, check how many users your plan includes and whether your WhatsApp replies live in the same place as your order data.
How do you set up WhatFlow on Shopify?
- Install WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API from the Shopify App Store.
- Connect your WhatsApp number through Meta's Embedded Signup, right inside Shopify admin.
- Turn on the free theme-matched WhatsApp button so shoppers can start a chat from your store.
- Pick one template to start with (COD confirmation, abandoned checkout or a shipping update), map the Shopify fields in the template editor and submit it to Meta for approval.
- Invite everyone who answers customers to the team inbox. There are no seat fees, so don't ration logins.
Meta reviews every template, so submit yours early. If one gets rejected, these fixes cover the usual reasons.
When Brevo might still make sense
Pick Brevo only if you specifically want one vendor for email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns across several brands or non-Shopify properties, and you're already paying for a Professional plan. Even then, plenty of stores keep Brevo for email and run WhatsApp through WhatFlow. The two don't fight; this guide on coordinating email, SMS and WhatsApp shows how to split the work.
The bottom line
For WhatsApp on Shopify, WhatFlow is the stronger buy. You get Shopify Flow triggers, COD confirmation, catalog sharing and a no-seat-fee inbox on every plan, starting free. Brevo makes WhatsApp a paid add-on to a higher email tier. Install WhatFlow, send your first abandoned-checkout template this week, and let Brevo keep doing your newsletter.
Questions worth asking
Is WhatFlow a good Brevo alternative for WhatsApp on Shopify?
Yes. WhatFlow is built specifically for Shopify WhatsApp: templates mapped to Shopify data, COD confirmation, native Shopify Flow triggers and a team inbox with no seat fees. You can keep Brevo for email and add WhatFlow for WhatsApp without moving your newsletter list.
Is WhatsApp included in every Brevo plan?
No. Brevo's own help docs list WhatsApp messaging and prepaid WhatsApp credits as add-ons for its Professional and Enterprise plans. WhatFlow includes every WhatsApp feature on every plan, including Free, with paid plans from $4.99/month.
Does WhatFlow charge per inbox seat?
No. WhatFlow's team inbox has no seat fees, so your support, sales and fulfilment people can all answer WhatsApp without the bill changing. You pay for a message plan, and Meta bills its WhatsApp charges separately, as it would with Brevo.
Is the WhatFlow Free plan limited?
No features are held back. The Free plan includes templates, Shopify Flow triggers and actions, COD confirmation, catalog sharing and the team inbox. Paid plans from $4.99/month only add message allowance at lower rates, and the theme-matched WhatsApp button is free forever.
