If your customers use WhatsApp, WhatFlow is the better choice than Recart. WhatFlow runs on the official Meta Cloud API and gives you WhatsApp cart recovery, broadcasts, COD confirmation, live catalog sharing and a team inbox for replies, on every plan, from $0. Recart is a well-built SMS and list-growth platform, but its paid SMS plans start at $299 a month plus carrier fees, and it doesn't list WhatsApp as a messaging channel.
When testing WhatFlow and Recart, ask: Can you explain which recipients failed and retry only the ones worth retrying? In WhatFlow, test a Shopify customer or segment send, then try scheduling a separate Inbox broadcast from a spreadsheet or existing conversations. The campaign walkthrough shows the test send, reply handoff and recipient report.
One more thing. If you remember WhatFlow as a small-shop app on an unofficial connection, that's our older Chat Automation app. WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API is the official-API product: enterprise-ready, rated 5.0 on the Shopify App Store, with Shopify Flow automation and no seat fees.

How does Recart's pricing compare with WhatFlow?
Recart's pricing page lists three SMS plans, as of November 2026: Starter from $299 a month with 23,000 SMS included, Pro from $499 with 41,583 SMS, and Scale from $999 with 100,000 SMS. Prices vary with the commitment term (Starter runs $299 to $345), and Starter overage SMS costs $0.0100 to $0.0120 plus a $0.003 carrier fee per message. List Growth plans start at $200 a month. Its Shopify listing also offers a free plan with no platform fee.
WhatFlow's plans are public and every feature is on every one:
- Free: first 100 messages
- Starter, $4.99/month: 2,000 messages
- Plus, $9.99/month: 5,000 messages
- Growth, $29/month: 20,000 messages
- Scale, $49.99/month: 40,000 messages
Say you send 20,000 messages a month across cart recovery, shipping updates and one campaign. On Recart Starter that's $299 plus carrier fees. On WhatFlow it's $29 for the app. Meta then charges per delivered template message, and the rate depends on the template category and the customer's country, so check Meta's pricing doc for your markets. Since October 1, 2026, only the first 1,000 service messages per business number each month are free. Current WhatFlow amounts are on our pricing page.
Why WhatsApp beats SMS for many Shopify stores
The channel decides more than the price. In India, Pakistan, Brazil, Indonesia, the Gulf and much of Europe, WhatsApp is where customers already talk to shops, and SMS feels like the place OTP codes go.
WhatsApp gives you things SMS doesn't:
- Reply buttons, so a customer can confirm a COD order with one tap
- Rich templates with images, product links and buttons, sent from your business name
- Real conversations: a customer can ask "does it come in navy?" and get an answer from your team in the same thread
- Catalog sharing, so an agent can send the exact product card
Here's a WhatFlow cart recovery template:
Hi Ayesha, your cart is waiting: Cotton Kurta Set (M, sage), Rs 4,200. Tap below to finish checkout. Questions about fit? Just reply and our team will help.
If she replies, the message lands in WhatFlow's shared inbox. Our comparison of WhatsApp vs SMS cart recovery goes through when each channel wins, and WhatsApp vs SMS for COD confirmations covers COD-heavy stores.
Which fits Shopify operations better?
WhatFlow, because it's more than a marketing sender. On every plan you get COD confirmation where the customer's button tap fires WhatFlow's order-reply trigger in Shopify Flow to tag or cancel the order, order and shipping updates, review-request workflows, native Flow triggers and actions, Shopify admin extensions and free-forever theme-matched WhatsApp buttons for your storefront.
Recart's pricing page and Shopify listing centre on SMS campaigns, flows and list growth. They don't describe two-way support, COD confirmation or Shopify Flow actions.
Can a growing team use WhatFlow?
Yes. WhatFlow's team inbox has assignment, filters and saved replies, with no seat fees, so marketing, support and ops can all work the same WhatsApp number. A broadcast that gets 400 replies doesn't overwhelm one person; it gets assigned and worked like any support queue. Assignment and filters make it clear who owns each reply, so nothing from a campaign sits unanswered overnight.

WhatFlow runs on the official Meta Cloud API, with Meta-approved templates and messaging limits that grow with your number's quality.
When might Recart still make sense?
Pick Recart only if your customers are mostly in the US and you specifically want an SMS list-growth program, including managed services on its higher tiers. Plenty of brands run SMS for US subscribers and WhatsApp for everyone else; our guide to coordinating email, SMS and WhatsApp shows how to keep that tidy.
The bottom line
Recart is an SMS platform. WhatFlow is the official WhatsApp platform for Shopify: cart recovery, broadcasts, COD confirmation, a no-seat-fee team inbox and Shopify Flow automation on every plan, starting free and from $4.99 a month after that. If your customers open WhatsApp before anything else, that's where your store should be.
Questions worth asking
Is WhatFlow a good Recart alternative?
Yes, if your customers use WhatsApp. WhatFlow sends cart recovery, broadcasts and COD confirmations on WhatsApp through the official Meta Cloud API, and replies land in a team inbox with no seat fees. Recart is built for SMS.
Does Recart support WhatsApp?
Recart's pricing page and Shopify App Store listing describe SMS, MMS and list growth, and don't list WhatsApp as a messaging channel, as of November 2026. WhatsApp appears on its pricing page only as a support channel on the Pro tier.
How much does Recart cost?
Recart's pricing page lists SMS plans from $299 a month (Starter, 23,000 SMS) plus carrier fees, and List Growth plans from $200 a month, as of November 2026. Its Shopify listing also shows a free plan with no platform fees.
Can I run WhatFlow and Recart together?
Yes. Some stores keep SMS for US subscribers and use WhatFlow for WhatsApp customers, COD confirmations and two-way support. Agree which channel each customer gets so nobody receives the same message twice.
