WhatFlow vs Kaleyra is an app-versus-infrastructure choice. Kaleyra, now Tata Communications Kaleyra, is an enterprise CPaaS: messaging APIs you integrate into your own systems. WhatFlow is a finished WhatsApp app for Shopify on the official Meta Cloud API, with Shopify Flow, COD confirmation, cart recovery and a team inbox with no seat fees already built. For a Shopify brand, WhatFlow gets you there without an integration project.
And if you're picturing WhatFlow as a lightweight tool for side hustles, update that. WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API is the official-API product, rated 5.0 out of 5 from 55 ratings on the Shopify App Store as of November 5, 2026, and designed for teams handling real volume.

How much does Kaleyra WhatsApp cost vs WhatFlow?
WhatFlow's pricing is public and simple. Free covers 100 messages a month and includes every feature. Starter is $4.99 for 2,000, Plus $9.99 for 5,000, Growth $29 for 20,000, Scale $49.99 for 40,000, Ultimate $99 for 75,000. No seat fees, no feature tiers. See WhatFlow pricing.
Tata Communications Kaleyra doesn't publish prices. Its pages lead to "Talk To An Expert" and "Schedule A Conversation" (pricing via sales, not published as of November 2026).
With a CPaaS, the API bill is only part of it. You also pay, in salary or agency fees, for the things a Shopify app already does:
- Listening to Shopify order and checkout events.
- Mapping order data into approved templates.
- Handling button replies and writing them back to the order.
- Giving agents somewhere to answer, with assignment.
- Maintaining all of it when Shopify or Meta change something.
On WhatFlow those are product features. Say you send 15,000 messages a month: Growth at $29, everything included, every agent in the inbox. Meta's per-message charges apply either way. Since October 1, 2026, service replies are free only for the first 1,000 per business number each month and utility templates inside the service window are charged; see Meta's pricing docs or our WhatsApp Business API pricing guide.
Which is better for Shopify workflows?
WhatFlow, because those workflows are already built and they run in Shopify Flow. WhatsApp replies and incoming messages are Flow triggers. Template, text and media messages are Flow actions. Your ops lead can build them with no code.

A delivery-day message mapped from Shopify:
Hi Sofia, your order #7719 is out for delivery today. Need a different time? Reply here and we'll sort it out.
When Sofia replies, it lands in the shared inbox. For more on how this works, see how WhatFlow connects WhatsApp to your Shopify app workflows.
Kaleyra's WhatsApp offering covers rich media, buttons, templates, quick replies and two-way messaging, and it integrates with "your existing systems". It doesn't name Shopify. So for a Shopify brand, the Shopify side is a build. That's the trade-off laid out in our comparison of a Shopify WhatsApp app vs building on the Cloud API.
What a COD confirmation looks like without code
On WhatFlow, the whole COD loop is configuration, not development:
- Create a template with Confirm and Cancel buttons in the template editor.
- In Shopify Flow, trigger it when a cash-on-delivery order is created.
- Add a second workflow on the WhatFlow order-reply trigger: Confirm adds a tag, Cancel cancels the order.
Hi Bilal, please confirm your order #2290 for PKR 6,400, cash on delivery. [Confirm] [Cancel]
On a CPaaS, each of those steps is code your team writes, hosts and monitors. The WhatsApp COD confirmation vs phone calls comparison shows why stores bother.
Is WhatFlow enterprise-ready?
Yes, and without the engineering overhead:

- Official Meta Cloud API, connected through Meta's Embedded Signup.
- Shared team inbox with assignment, filters and saved replies.
- No seat fees at any team size.
- Native Shopify Flow automation that scales with your order volume.
- COD confirmation, cart recovery, shipping updates, broadcasts and live catalog sharing.
- Shopify admin extensions, so your team works where the orders are.
See the team inbox for details. And for small stores, the same app starts on a Free plan with every feature, plus a theme-matched WhatsApp chat button that's free forever.
When Kaleyra might still make sense
Pick Kaleyra if you're a large enterprise that needs one messaging provider across many systems and countries (it advertises reach in over 180 countries) and you have developers to build and own the integrations. If Shopify is one of many systems and WhatsApp is one of many channels, a CPaaS can be the right layer. For more API-platform comparisons, see WhatFlow vs Twilio.
The bottom line
For a Shopify brand, the hard part of WhatsApp isn't the API. It's the order logic, the replies and the team answering customers. WhatFlow has all of that built on the official Meta Cloud API, inside Shopify Flow, with no seat fees and pricing you can read today. Install it and skip the integration project.
Questions worth asking
