OneSignal details are from its pricing page as of November 2026. WhatFlow's Business API app is rated 5.0 out of 5 from 55 ratings on the Shopify App Store, as of November 5, 2026.

One thing to clear up, because merchants still ask: WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API runs on the official Meta WhatsApp Cloud API, not an unofficial workaround. Your number connects through Meta's Embedded Signup, templates are approved by Meta, and the setup that suits a two-person shop holds up for a 50-person support team, with inbox assignment and filters, no seat fees at any team size, and Shopify Flow automation that scales with your order volume. (Our older Chat Automation app uses a linked device; it's a separate, entry-level product.)

Push notification or WhatsApp message?

A push notification is great for "your order shipped" on a phone where your app is installed. But most Shopify stores don't have an app, and the messages that matter often need an answer. Say a delivery is going to be late:

Hi Fatima, your order #4471 is running about two days late because of a courier backlog. Reply 1 to keep it as is, or 2 if you'd like us to switch to express at no charge.

On WhatsApp, Fatima replies, the reply hits your WhatFlow inbox, and a Shopify Flow workflow can tag the order. A push notification can't take that answer. For more, see WhatsApp vs mobile push and handling shipping delays on WhatsApp.

How much does it cost: WhatFlow vs OneSignal?

OneSignal Growth starts at $19/month plus usage: email per 1,000 sends, mobile push per monthly active user, web push per subscriber. That's sensible for an app business. It doesn't buy you WhatsApp.

WhatFlow's plans only differ by message allowance:

  • Free: every feature, 100 sends.
  • Starter: $4.99/month, 2,000 sends.
  • Plus: $9.99/month, 5,000 sends.
  • Growth: $29/month, 20,000 sends.

Say you send 4,000 WhatsApp order updates a month. Plus covers it at $9.99, and your whole support team uses the inbox with no seat fees. Meta bills its per-message WhatsApp charges separately (Meta's pricing). Full details on the pricing page.

What WhatFlow adds to a Shopify store

  • Templates mapped to Shopify data: order number, items, totals, tracking link.
  • COD confirmation with buttons that tag or cancel the order through Flow.
  • Abandoned checkout recovery on WhatsApp.
  • Native Shopify Flow triggers and actions, plus Shopify Sidekick to help draft workflows.
  • Live catalog sharing and saved replies in the team inbox.
  • Free theme-matched WhatsApp buttons for your storefront.

None of it needs a developer. OneSignal is built for teams who write code against an SDK; WhatFlow is built for the person running the store.

How do you set up WhatFlow on Shopify?

  1. Install WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Connect your WhatsApp number through Meta's Embedded Signup, right inside Shopify admin.
  3. Turn on the free theme-matched WhatsApp button so shoppers can start a chat from your store.
  4. Pick one template to start with (COD confirmation, abandoned checkout or a shipping update), map the Shopify fields in the template editor and submit it to Meta for approval.
  5. Invite everyone who answers customers to the team inbox. There are no seat fees, so don't ration logins.

Meta reviews every template, so submit yours early. If one gets rejected, these fixes cover the usual reasons.

When OneSignal might still make sense

Pick OneSignal if you have your own mobile app and need push and in-app messaging at scale, with engineers to wire it up. That's its home ground. If you also want WhatsApp for Shopify orders, run WhatFlow alongside it.

The bottom line

OneSignal does push. WhatFlow does WhatsApp for Shopify, with templates, COD, Flow and a no-seat-fee inbox on every plan, starting free. If WhatsApp is where your customers talk, install WhatFlow and send your first order update this week.

Questions worth asking

Is WhatFlow a OneSignal alternative for Shopify?

For WhatsApp, yes. WhatFlow is a Shopify app that sends WhatsApp templates from order data, runs COD confirmation and Flow automations, and gives your team an inbox with no seat fees. OneSignal is push and in-app infrastructure, and its pricing page doesn't list WhatsApp.

Does OneSignal support WhatsApp?

OneSignal's pricing page lists email, mobile push, in-app, web push and SMS/RCS, and doesn't list WhatsApp, as of November 2026. For WhatsApp on Shopify, WhatFlow uses the official Meta Cloud API and includes every feature on its Free plan.

Does WhatFlow charge per inbox seat?

No. WhatFlow's team inbox has no seat fees, so your support, sales and fulfilment people can all answer WhatsApp without the bill changing. You pay for a message plan, and Meta bills its WhatsApp charges separately, as it would with OneSignal.

Is the WhatFlow Free plan limited?

No features are held back. The Free plan includes templates, Shopify Flow triggers and actions, COD confirmation, catalog sharing and the team inbox. Paid plans from $4.99/month only add message allowance at lower rates, and the theme-matched WhatsApp button is free forever.
