If WhatsApp is the channel your Shopify store needs to get right, WhatFlow is the better tool than Gorgias. WhatFlow is built for WhatsApp on Shopify: templates, broadcasts, COD confirmation, abandoned checkout recovery, native Shopify Flow triggers and actions, and a team inbox with no seat fees, all on the Free plan. Gorgias is an excellent helpdesk priced by tickets. It earns its place when email, chat and social support all need one system.
When testing WhatFlow and Gorgias, ask: How do you prioritize chats before their service window closes? In WhatFlow, use Needs reply and Closing soon, claim a conversation, then check Shopify order context and leave a private note. The team inbox walkthrough gives you a repeatable test for two agents, with no per-seat fee.
And to set the record straight: WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API runs on the official Meta Cloud API. It's enterprise-ready (inbox assignment and filters, no seat fees at any team size, Shopify Flow automation, COD confirmation, catalog sharing, admin extensions) and still the easiest start for a small store on the Free plan. Our linked-device Chat Automation app is a separate, older entry-level product.
WhatFlow vs Gorgias at a glance
- What it is: WhatFlow is a dedicated Shopify WhatsApp app. Gorgias is a multichannel helpdesk with WhatsApp as one channel.
- Pricing: WhatFlow is free to start, then from $4.99/month by messages sent. Gorgias bills by tickets, from 50 to 5,000 a month.
- Seats: Neither charges per agent. Gorgias says so plainly on its pricing page, and that's to its credit.
- WhatsApp marketing and automation: WhatFlow includes broadcasts, cart recovery, COD confirmation and Flow actions on every plan.
- AI: Gorgias offers an AI agent billed per interaction. WhatFlow has no built-in AI bot and no per-interaction AI fees. Instead, WhatFlow's MCP connector lets you connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to read chats, look up orders and draft replies that a person approves.
- Rating: WhatFlow Business API is rated 5.0/5 from 55 ratings on the Shopify App Store (November 5, 2026).
How do the costs compare?
Gorgias's pricing page (checked October 27, 2026) prices the helpdesk by billable tickets, with tiers from 50 to 5,000 tickets a month, AI interactions billed separately, and Voice and SMS as usage add-ons. Gorgias's WhatsApp interactions can become billable tickets under its rules.
That model is fair for a support team, but think about what it means for WhatsApp. Say you send a shipping update to 2,000 customers and 300 reply. Some say "thanks," some ask about address changes, a few report damage. Under ticket pricing, those replies feed your ticket count. Under WhatFlow, you've paid for the sends that fit your plan, and the replies are conversations in your inbox, not tickets. (Meta's own fees still apply: since October 1, 2026, only the first 1,000 service messages per number each month are free. See Meta's pricing doc.)
WhatFlow's side is simple and public:
- Free: every feature, first 100 messages sent.
- Starter, $4.99/month: 2,000 messages.
- Plus, $9.99/month: 5,000 messages.
- Growth, $29/month: 20,000 messages.
Those 2,000 shipping updates fit Starter at $4.99. Meta's per-message fees apply on both products. Current amounts are on our pricing page.
Which is better at WhatsApp automation for Shopify?
This is where a dedicated tool wins. Gorgias handles WhatsApp as a support channel and can start conversations with approved templates. WhatFlow is built around what Shopify stores actually send on WhatsApp.
WhatFlow plugs into Shopify Flow with its own triggers (incoming message, order reply) and actions (send template, text or media). That lets you build COD confirmation where the customer's tap updates the order:
Hi Fatima, please confirm your cash-on-delivery order #7810 for AED 289. [Confirm] [Cancel]
Confirm tags the order cod-confirmed. Cancel can cancel it or flag it for a call. The COD reply guide has the full setup. Cart recovery, order and shipping updates, review requests and broadcasts work the same way, and none are extra.
How do returns and exceptions work?
Both tools leave the decision with a human, which is right. In WhatFlow, a return question lands in the team inbox, gets assigned, and your agent replies with a saved response:

Sorry the jacket didn't fit. Could you send your order number and tell me if you'd prefer a different size or a refund? I'll check stock for you now.

Agents can share an in-stock alternative from the live catalog in the same chat. WhatFlow doesn't process refunds itself; your team does that in Shopify. Our returns and exchanges guide has more reply examples.
Should you run both?
Plenty of stores do. If Gorgias already handles email and chat well, keep it. Add WhatFlow for WhatsApp automation and replies, and write down one rule: WhatsApp replies are owned in WhatFlow. The shared inbox guide covers how to set ownership so nothing falls between the two.
When Gorgias might still make sense
Choose Gorgias if you need one ticketing system across email, chat, social and voice, with helpdesk reporting on all of it. Its AI agent, billed per interaction, is also something WhatFlow doesn't have built in. WhatFlow's route is the AI you already pay for, connected over MCP, with a person approving drafts.
The bottom line
For WhatsApp on a Shopify store, WhatFlow does more of the work for less: COD confirmation, cart recovery, broadcasts and Shopify Flow automation on the Free plan, with a team inbox and no seat fees. Gorgias is a great helpdesk; WhatFlow is the better WhatsApp tool. Start free, and keep your helpdesk if it's working.
