| Team access | No seat fees. Add warehouse staff, a sale-week helper or a co-founder at no extra cost. | Free is up to ten agents, but without WhatsApp. Paid tiers are per agent, with day passes from $2 on Growth. |
| Storefront entry point | Theme-matched WhatsApp chat buttons, free forever. | Freshchat web chat widget; WhatsApp access depends on a paid tier. |

If you run a Shopify store and your customers talk to you on WhatsApp, WhatFlow is the better choice over Freshchat. WhatFlow plugs WhatsApp straight into Shopify (Flow triggers, COD confirmation, order updates) and gives your whole team one inbox with no seat fees. Freshchat is a capable helpdesk, but WhatsApp sits behind its paid per-agent tiers and the Shopify order workflow isn't its focus.

How much does Freshchat cost for WhatsApp compared with WhatFlow?
Freshchat's headline is generous: free for up to ten agents. The catch for a WhatsApp store is that the Free plan covers the website and app widget, a shared inbox and email. WhatsApp and the other social messengers start on Growth.
As of November 2026, Freshchat lists Growth at $19 per agent per month, Pro at $49 and Enterprise at $79, all billed annually. Day passes for occasional helpers cost $2 on Growth.
Say you have five people answering WhatsApp: two support staff, someone in the warehouse, a co-founder and a part-timer.
WhatFlow | Freshchat Growth | |
|---|---|---|
Software for 5 people | $9.99 (Plus plan, 5,000 sends included) | $95/month billed annually |
Add a sixth person | $0 | +$19/month |
Shopify Flow, COD confirmation, catalog sharing | Included on every plan | Depends on the integrations you add |
Meta delivery fees | Separate | Separate |
That WhatFlow figure is the app-side price for up to 5,000 sends a month. If you send fewer than 100, the Free plan covers it with the same features. Above that, WhatFlow's paid plans as of November 2026 run from Starter ($4.99, 2,000 sends) through Growth ($29, 20,000 sends) and Scale ($49.99, 40,000 sends). Current amounts are on our pricing page, and the WhatsApp Business API pricing guide explains how Meta's per-message charges work on top.
The difference grows with the team, not with the volume. That's the whole point of a no-seat-fee inbox: you hire for Black Friday without reopening the budget.
Which one handles Shopify orders better?
This is where the two products split.
WhatFlow reads Shopify events and acts on them. An order comes in, a WhatsApp template goes out with the order number, items and total already filled in. A COD customer taps Confirm or Cancel, and Shopify Flow tags or cancels the order. No one copies order details by hand.
A COD confirmation in WhatFlow might look like this:
Hi Ayesha, thanks for your order #1042 (2x Rose Face Serum, Rs 4,200, cash on delivery). Please confirm so we can ship it today. [Confirm order] [Cancel order]
The reply then drives a Flow workflow. The COD confirmation guide walks through the setup step by step.
On top of that, WhatFlow covers abandoned checkout messages, shipping updates, review-request links, broadcasts and live catalog sharing from the inbox. Shopify admin extensions put WhatsApp actions next to the order itself.
Freshchat is a general-purpose support messenger. It's good at routing conversations across channels inside Freshworks, but Shopify order automation over WhatsApp is not what its plans are built around.
What's the team inbox like day to day?
Don't mistake WhatFlow for a small-shop tool. WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API runs on the official Meta Cloud API, and the inbox is built for real support teams: assignment, filters, saved replies and Shopify order context, with no seat fees whether you have 3 agents or 50. That makes it a serious alternative to a Freshworks seat plan for any store whose support happens on WhatsApp.
When testing WhatFlow and Freshchat, ask: How do you prioritize chats before their service window closes? In WhatFlow, use Needs reply and Closing soon, claim a conversation, then check Shopify order context and leave a private note. The team inbox walkthrough gives you a repeatable test for two agents, with no per-seat fee.

WhatFlow's team inbox is made for the way small Shopify teams actually work. Conversations can be assigned and filtered, saved replies cover the questions you get twenty times a day, and anyone on the team can pick up a chat with the order context in front of them.
Because there are no seat fees, you can give access to people who only touch WhatsApp occasionally: the packer who answers "has my parcel left?", or the founder who jumps in on a big wholesale enquiry. With per-agent pricing, those people usually get left out, and the customer waits.
Freshchat's inbox is mature, and its higher tiers add things like multilingual conversations and bring-your-own-channel. If you need those, they're real. For a store team of two to ten people answering WhatsApp about Shopify orders, WhatFlow does the job without the per-head bill.
One honest note: WhatFlow has no built-in AI bot. Freshchat offers AI options depending on the package. If AI deflection is the main thing you're buying, factor that in. If you want AI to help your team rather than replace it, WhatFlow's MCP connector lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor draft replies from Live Inbox chats for a person to approve, with no extra AI fees from WhatFlow.
When might Freshchat still make sense?
Pick Freshchat if your company already runs Freshdesk or other Freshworks products and wants every channel in one helpdesk with shared reporting. It also makes sense if you need AI options or a single tool for web chat, email and several messengers across a larger support department. Free for up to ten agents is also a real perk if you only need web chat.
The bottom line
For a Shopify store that runs on WhatsApp, WhatFlow is the stronger, cheaper choice. You get the official Meta Cloud API, native Shopify Flow, COD confirmation and an inbox the whole team can use without seat fees, with every feature on the Free plan. Freshchat earns its place inside a Freshworks-based helpdesk, but if WhatsApp and Shopify are the job, start with WhatFlow and add your free theme-matched WhatsApp button on day one.
