WhatFlow and Time-limited trial at a glance
| Consideration | WhatFlow | Time-limited trial |
|---|---|---|
| Best-fit experience | Every feature on the Free plan, with no end date. Upgrade only when you need more messages. | A trial can be a good way to test a big product, but features and automations stop or switch to paid when the clock runs out. |
| Costs to include | Free plan includes 100 sends, then $0.01 per message (as of November 2026). Meta's WhatsApp fees are separate. Buttons are free forever. | $0 during the trial, then the full plan price, often with seat fees and feature tiers on top. |
| Shopify workflow | Shopify Flow triggers and actions, COD confirmation, order templates and the team inbox all stay on Free. | Automations built during the trial may pause if you don't convert. Check before you wire them into checkout. |
| Starting point | Free plan with every feature, plus theme-matched WhatsApp buttons that are free forever. | Write down exactly what stays live after the trial ends before you put it in front of customers. |
A free plan is the better start for a Shopify store than a free trial, because nothing switches off on day 15. WhatFlow's Free plan includes every feature (team inbox, order templates, COD confirmation, Shopify Flow) with no end date, and the theme-matched WhatsApp buttons are free forever. You upgrade when you need more messages, not because a timer ran out.
Trials are fine for testing a big product. They're risky for anything customers rely on.
At a glance
WhatFlow Free plan | Time-limited free trial | |
|---|---|---|
How long | No end date | Usually 7 to 14 days |
Features | All of them | All, or a trial tier |
After it ends | Nothing ends | Pay, or features stop |
Storefront button | Free forever | Depends on the vendor |
Team inbox | No seat fees | Seats usually billed after trial |
Why a trial is risky for customer messaging
Say you install a WhatsApp app on a 14-day trial. You add a chat button to your product pages, set up an abandoned checkout reminder and a COD confirmation. Customers start using them. Day 15 arrives during a busy week and you haven't decided yet.
Now the button might vanish, the COD confirmations might stop, and customers who replied to yesterday's message might not get an answer. You've put a deadline inside your checkout.
With a free plan, that day never comes. You can set things up properly, watch them run for a month, and decide on a paid plan when your message volume tells you to.
What exactly is free on WhatFlow?
As of November 2026, from the Shopify App Store listing:
- Every feature. Team inbox, assignment and filters, saved replies, message templates, broadcasts, abandoned checkout, COD confirmation, order updates, live catalog sharing, native Shopify Flow triggers and actions, admin extensions.
- 100 sends included on Free, then $0.01 per message.
- Theme-matched WhatsApp chat buttons, free forever.
- No seat fees, so your whole team can try the inbox together.
One honest caveat: free features don't mean free messages forever. Past 100 sends, you either pay per message on Free or move to a paid plan (Starter is $4.99/month with 2,000 sends). Meta's WhatsApp fees are separate on every plan (Meta pricing). Paid plans also come with a 7-day trial on the listing, so you can test a bigger allowance before paying. Current amounts are on our pricing page.

A good first month on the Free plan
- Add the free WhatsApp button to your product pages (how to add a WhatsApp chat button to Shopify).
- Set up one order confirmation template.
- Invite whoever answers customers to the inbox.
- Watch how many sends you use. If you're close to 100, Starter is the cheapest next step.

WhatFlow's WhatsApp Business API app runs on the official Meta WhatsApp Cloud API and is rated 5.0 out of 5 from 55 ratings on the Shopify App Store (checked November 5, 2026).
When a free trial might still make sense
Pick a trial only if you're evaluating a large platform with features you can't test any other way, and you keep it away from live customer journeys until you've decided. Write down what stays live after the trial before you start.
The bottom line
Customer messaging shouldn't have an expiry date. WhatFlow's Free plan gives you every feature, a no-seat-fee team inbox and a free-forever button, and you pay only when your sends grow. Install it, set up one message, and let real usage tell you when to upgrade. Our WhatsApp marketing plan for a small store is a good next read.
Questions worth asking
Is there a free WhatsApp app for Shopify with no trial limit?
Yes. WhatFlow's WhatsApp Business API app has a Free plan with every feature and no end date. It includes 100 sends and the theme-matched WhatsApp buttons are free forever, as of November 2026.
What should I check before starting a WhatsApp free trial?
Ask what happens on the last day: does the storefront button disappear, do automations stop, and what does the next message cost? If you can't answer all three, don't route real customers through it yet.
Does the free WhatFlow plan restrict features?
No. Every WhatFlow feature, including the team inbox and Shopify Flow, is on every plan, including Free. Plans differ only by message allowance and rate.
Are Meta's WhatsApp charges included in WhatFlow's Free plan?
No. Meta charges separately for delivered template messages by category and country. Since October 1, 2026, Meta's free customer service replies are capped at the first 1,000 per number per month.
