WhatFlow and MoEngage at a glance
| Consideration | WhatFlow | MoEngage |
|---|---|---|
| What the product is built around | A Shopify app built for WhatsApp: admin extensions, native Shopify Flow triggers and actions, and a team inbox for order conversations. | An agentic customer engagement platform covering 10+ channels (email, push, SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, in-app and more), with a MoEngage for Shopify solution. |
| Pricing and billing units | Published: Free plan, paid plans from $4.99/month, priced by message allowance. Meta fees separate. | No public prices as of November 2026. Growth and Enterprise tiers, many capabilities marked as add-ons; pricing via a demo request. |
| Feature access | Every feature on every plan, including Free. Plans differ only by message allowance and rates. | Segmentation, analytics, AI decisioning and many channels. The pricing page marks several capabilities as add-ons. |
| Team access | No seat fees. Add your support and warehouse staff to the inbox at no extra cost. | Seats and roles aren't published; they're set in the contract you negotiate. |
| Storefront entry point | Free-forever WhatsApp chat buttons that match your Shopify theme. | Not a focus of the public product pages; check with MoEngage whether a storefront WhatsApp button is included. |
| Two-way WhatsApp inbox | Shared inbox with assignment, filters, saved replies and live catalog sharing. | The homepage positions WhatsApp as a campaign channel and doesn't describe a support inbox. |
| Time to first message | Install from the Shopify App Store, connect through Meta Embedded Signup, send a template. | Starts with a demo request and a custom quote. |
| WhatsApp connection and scale | Official Meta Cloud API via Embedded Signup; team inbox with assignment and filters, no seat fees at any team size. | WhatsApp is one channel inside a wider engagement platform. |
WhatFlow is the better pick for a Shopify store that wants WhatsApp working now. It installs from the Shopify App Store, runs on the official Meta Cloud API, includes every feature on every plan (Free too) and charges no seat fees for the team inbox. MoEngage is a big cross-channel engagement platform. Buy it for app push and multi-channel journeys, not to answer "where's my order?" on WhatsApp.
When testing WhatFlow and MoEngage, ask: Can your team run a test and handle the replies after the send? In WhatFlow, test a Shopify customer or segment send, then try scheduling a separate Inbox broadcast from a spreadsheet or existing conversations. The campaign walkthrough shows the test send, reply handoff and recipient report.

How much does MoEngage cost compared with WhatFlow?
MoEngage doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page shows Growth and Enterprise tiers, marks a lot of capabilities as add-ons and sends you to a demo. That's normal for an enterprise engagement suite, and it tells you who the product is built for: companies with a lifecycle team and a procurement process.
WhatFlow's pricing is on the page. As of November 2026:
- Free: $0, 100 messages a month
- Starter: $4.99, 2,000 messages
- Plus: $9.99, 5,000 messages
- Growth: $29, 20,000 messages
- Scale: $49.99, 40,000 messages
- Ultimate: $99, 75,000 messages
Say you send 40,000 WhatsApp messages a month: order confirmations, shipping updates and a couple of campaigns. On WhatFlow's Scale plan the app side costs $49.99. Three agents in the inbox? Still $49.99. Meta's per-message charges sit on top for any WhatsApp provider, and they depend on country and template category (see WhatsApp Business API pricing explained). Current numbers live on WhatFlow's pricing page.

You can't do the same math for MoEngage without a quote, and that's the point. If you have to book a demo to learn whether a WhatsApp order update is affordable, you're shopping in the wrong aisle.
Which one fits Shopify order workflows better?
WhatFlow, by a distance. It lives inside Shopify:
- Native Shopify Flow triggers and actions. Incoming WhatsApp messages and order replies are Flow triggers; sending a template, text or media message is a Flow action. You can even ask Shopify Sidekick to draft the workflow.
- COD confirmation with order tagging. The customer taps Confirm or Cancel, and Flow tags or cancels the order.
- Abandoned checkout recovery, shipping updates and review requests from templates mapped to Shopify fields.
- Live catalog sharing from the inbox when a customer asks "do you have this in black?"
Here's what a COD confirmation looks like:
Hi Ayesha, thanks for order #4512 (2 x Linen Kurta, Rs 6,400, cash on delivery). Please confirm so we can dispatch today. [Confirm order] [Cancel]
The Confirm tap tags the order in Shopify, and your packer sees it. No spreadsheet, no phone calls. The COD confirmation guide walks through the full Flow.
MoEngage does advertise a MoEngage for Shopify solution, aimed at personalized engagement. It's built for audience journeys, not for a support person replying to a delayed parcel.
What about replies and the team inbox?
This is where the gap is widest. WhatsApp customers reply. They send photos of damaged parcels, ask about sizing at 11pm and change their address an hour after ordering. Someone has to answer.
WhatFlow gives you a shared inbox with assignment, filters, saved replies and catalog sharing, and you can add your whole team without paying per seat. MoEngage's homepage positions WhatsApp as one campaign channel among many and doesn't describe a support inbox. If you went with MoEngage, you'd likely still need a separate tool for the conversations. Read how to set up a shared team inbox if you're moving off a personal phone.
Is WhatFlow enterprise-ready?
Yes, and this is worth saying plainly because people still assume a Shopify WhatsApp app must be an unofficial, small-shop tool. WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API connects to the official Meta Cloud API through Meta Embedded Signup. The team inbox has assignment and filters so a 20-person support team can split work by agent or status, and there are no seat fees at any team size. Shopify Flow runs the automation, so COD confirmation, order updates and reply routing scale with your order volume, not with headcount. Add live catalog sharing, Shopify admin extensions and a 5.0/5 rating from 55 ratings on the Shopify App Store (as of November 5, 2026). The Free plan makes it the easiest start for a small store, and nothing about it caps a large one.
When MoEngage might still make sense
Pick MoEngage if you run a mobile app with serious push and in-app volume, have a lifecycle team that builds cross-channel journeys, and need analytics and AI decisioning across all of it. In that setup WhatsApp is one channel in a large programme, and plenty of brands run WhatFlow alongside for the Shopify side.
The bottom line
For most Shopify stores selling where customers use WhatsApp, WhatFlow is the right call: published pricing from $0, every feature on every plan, no seat fees, native Shopify Flow and a 5.0/5 rating from 55 ratings on the Shopify App Store (as of November 5, 2026). Start free, send your first COD confirmation or cart reminder this week, and revisit an engagement suite only when you've outgrown a Shopify-first stack. If you're weighing other big platforms, the Braze comparison follows the same logic.
Questions worth asking
Is WhatFlow a good MoEngage alternative for Shopify?
Yes, if WhatsApp is the job. WhatFlow is a Shopify app on the official Meta Cloud API with published pricing, every feature on every plan and no seat fees. MoEngage is a broader engagement platform, and it only earns its cost if you also need app push, in-app messaging and cross-channel journeys.
How much does MoEngage cost compared with WhatFlow?
As of November 2026, MoEngage doesn't publish prices; you request a demo and get a quote for its Growth or Enterprise tier and any add-ons. WhatFlow is free to start and paid plans run from $4.99 to $99 a month, with Meta's WhatsApp charges billed separately.
Does WhatFlow charge per inbox seat?
No. WhatFlow's team inbox has no seat fees, so adding a second agent or a warehouse colleague doesn't change your bill. You pay for your message plan and usage, plus Meta's delivery charges.
Are WhatFlow features restricted on the free plan?
No. Templates, broadcasts, cart recovery, COD confirmation, Shopify Flow, catalog sharing and the team inbox are on every plan, including Free. Plans differ by message allowance and rates, and the theme-matched WhatsApp button is free forever.
Can I use WhatFlow and MoEngage together?
Yes. Some brands keep MoEngage for app and web journeys and run Shopify WhatsApp order messages and replies in WhatFlow, so the store team answers customers without touching the engagement platform.
Is WhatFlow only for small Shopify stores?
No. WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API runs on the official Meta Cloud API and is built for teams of any size: a shared inbox with assignment and filters, no seat fees however many agents you add, Shopify Flow automation, COD confirmation, catalog sharing and Shopify admin extensions. Small stores can start on the Free plan, and larger teams get the same features without a MoEngage-style enterprise contract.
