Best fitShopify stores where WhatsApp drives sales, COD and support, from first order to large teams.Multi-marketplace sellers who need one per-agent helpdesk for Amazon, eBay and web store tickets.

If WhatsApp is how your Shopify customers buy and ask questions, WhatFlow is the better choice than eDesk. WhatFlow runs on the official Meta Cloud API and includes COD confirmation, abandoned checkout recovery, broadcasts, catalog sharing and native Shopify Flow actions on every plan, Free included. Its team inbox has no seat fees. eDesk is a good helpdesk for sellers spread across Amazon, eBay and web stores, but it bills per agent and treats WhatsApp as one support channel.

Quick correction, because it comes up constantly: WhatFlow isn't just the linked-device app for small shops anymore. That's our older Chat Automation app. WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API is the official-API product, enterprise-ready, rated 5.0 on the Shopify App Store, and still the easiest place for a small store to start.

How does eDesk pricing compare with WhatFlow?

eDesk's pricing page bills per agent per month, as of November 2026:

  • Essential: $45 annual / $55 monthly, 1 online store or marketplace
  • Growth: $99 / $125, 5 stores, reporting and CSAT surveys
  • Professional: $129 / $159, 10 stores
  • Enterprise: custom

On top of that, AI Agent outcomes are $0.99 each, AI Assist is $39 per agent per month, and Translate is $21 per agent per month. eDesk's Shopify listing shows different plan prices (Starter from $59 a month), so confirm the quote you get.

Take a six-person team on eDesk Growth, billed annually:

  • eDesk: 6 × $99 = $594/month
  • Add AI Assist for everyone: + 6 × $39 = $234, so $828/month

The same six people on WhatFlow:

  • Seats: $0
  • Plan: Plus at $9.99 (5,000 messages) or Growth at $29 (20,000 messages)
  • Feature upgrades: none needed, every feature is on every plan

Meta's per-message fees apply to both, and eDesk notes you need a payment method on your WhatsApp Business account before you can send. Since October 1, 2026, only the first 1,000 service messages per business number each month are free (Meta's pricing doc). Our cost audit guide shows how seat fees and add-ons hide in a "headline" price, and current WhatFlow amounts are on the pricing page.

Which handles Shopify WhatsApp workflows better?

WhatFlow. eDesk's WhatsApp help article covers what a helpdesk needs: connect the number, import Meta-approved templates to open conversations, map template variables to eDesk snippets, and reply. That's fine for support. It's not a Shopify WhatsApp engine.

WhatFlow is. Every plan includes:

  • COD confirmation with reply buttons that tag or cancel the order through Shopify Flow
  • Abandoned checkout recovery and order and shipping updates
  • Broadcasts to opted-in customers
  • Native Shopify Flow triggers and actions, which Shopify Sidekick can help you draft
  • Live catalog sharing from the inbox
  • Free-forever, theme-matched WhatsApp buttons for your storefront

Say a customer abandons a checkout for a $180 jacket at 10pm. WhatFlow sends this an hour later:

Hi Lina, you left the Harbor Wool Jacket (size M) in your cart. Your cart is saved. Tap below to finish checkout, or reply here if you have a sizing question.

If she replies "does M run small?", it lands in the shared inbox, where any agent can answer and share the size chart or a live catalog item. Our abandoned checkout conversation guide has more examples.

Is WhatFlow ready for a large team?

Yes. WhatFlow's team inbox has assignment, filters and saved replies, and you can add as many teammates as you need with no seat fees. A 30-person team on eDesk Professional is 30 × $129 = $3,870 a month in seats. On WhatFlow, it's $0 in seats, and you choose a plan by messaging volume (up to Ultimate at $99 for 75,000 messages).

When testing WhatFlow and eDesk, ask: Can a second agent tell who owns the conversation without asking? In WhatFlow, use Needs reply and Closing soon, claim a conversation, then check Shopify order context and leave a private note. The team inbox walkthrough gives you a repeatable test for two agents, with no per-seat fee.

WhatFlow also sits inside Shopify: admin extensions put WhatsApp next to the order, and Flow lets your ops team automate at scale without writing code. The connection is the official Meta Cloud API via Embedded Signup from Shopify admin, so templates and your business profile go through Meta directly.

When might eDesk still make sense?

Pick eDesk only if you specifically need one helpdesk for Amazon, eBay, Walmart and other marketplace messages alongside your web store, and WhatsApp is a minor channel. Many multichannel sellers do well keeping eDesk for marketplaces and using WhatFlow for WhatsApp.

The bottom line

eDesk is a marketplace helpdesk that can take WhatsApp tickets. WhatFlow is the WhatsApp operation for Shopify: official Meta Cloud API, COD confirmation, cart recovery, broadcasts and Shopify Flow automation on every plan, and a team inbox that never charges per agent. Start on the Free plan and grow from $4.99 a month.
