For a Shopify store whose customers message on WhatsApp, WhatFlow is the better choice than LiveChat, which is now part of the Text platform. WhatFlow runs on the official Meta Cloud API, ties every chat to the Shopify order and Shopify Flow, and your whole team shares one inbox with no seat fees. Text is a strong website live-chat tool with an AI agent, but it's priced per user and built around chat on your site rather than WhatsApp order messaging.

Text's marketplace listing says WhatsApp Business is included in its paid plans, with extra numbers at no extra cost. That's a fair point in its favour. The difference is what you pay for the people.

Say you run a beauty brand with four support agents and one warehouse person who answers delivery questions:

  • Text Essential: 5 × $19 = $95 a month on annual billing, or $125 paying monthly, before Meta's WhatsApp fees.
  • Text Growth (for more AI and history): 5 × $79 = $395 a month on annual billing.
  • WhatFlow Plus: $9.99 a month with 5,000 sends included, before Meta fees. No charge per person.

If your volume grows, WhatFlow Growth is $29 for 20,000 sends and Scale is $49.99 for 40,000 (as of November 2026). See the pricing page. If you're weighing website chat against WhatsApp in general, our WhatsApp vs website live chat comparison covers when each one helps.

Which one fits Shopify order work better?

Website chat is great while the shopper is on your site. Once they've ordered and closed the tab, the conversation continues where they already are: WhatsApp.

WhatFlow is built for that part. Order confirmations, shipping updates and abandoned checkout reminders go out as WhatsApp templates filled with Shopify data. COD orders get a confirmation with reply buttons, and Shopify Flow tags or cancels the order based on the answer:

Abandoned checkout reminder delay and example message in WhatFlow
The demo checkout reminder shows the delay, selected template and example message preview.
Hi Lina, your order #3348 (AED 210, cash on delivery) is ready to ship. Can you confirm? [Confirm] [Change address] [Cancel]

An abandoned checkout message might read:

Hi Lina, you left the Vitamin C serum in your cart. Still deciding? Reply here with any question about your skin type and we'll help.

You can also share products from your live catalog inside the chat and send review-request links after delivery. Our guide to recovering an abandoned checkout with a WhatsApp conversation has more examples.

What does the team inbox look like?

WhatFlow WhatsApp Business API is built for real support teams. The shared team inbox has assignment, filters and saved replies, and it works the same for 3 agents or 50, with no seat fees at any size.

When testing WhatFlow and LiveChat / Text, ask: How do you prioritize chats before their service window closes? In WhatFlow, use Needs reply and Closing soon, claim a conversation, then check Shopify order context and leave a private note. The team inbox walkthrough gives you a repeatable test for two agents, with no per-seat fee.

Because seats are free, the people who know the answers can be in the inbox: the packer who knows whether the parcel left, the founder who handles wholesale. On per-user pricing those people usually stay out, and customers wait while questions get forwarded.

For the storefront, WhatFlow includes theme-matched WhatsApp chat buttons that are free forever, so shoppers can start a WhatsApp conversation from any product page.

One honest trade-off: WhatFlow has no built-in AI bot, and Text includes an AI agent. If on-site AI answers are central to your plan, weigh that. For WhatsApp, WhatFlow's MCP connector lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor draft replies from Live Inbox chats for a person to approve.

When might LiveChat (Text) still make sense?

Pick Text if most of your support happens in website chat while shoppers browse, you want an AI agent answering on-site questions, and WhatsApp is a secondary inbox channel.

The bottom line

If your Shopify customers talk to you on WhatsApp, WhatFlow does the job better and at a fraction of a per-user bill. You get the official Meta Cloud API, native Shopify Flow, COD confirmation, a free theme-matched WhatsApp button and an inbox with no seat fees, with every feature on the Free plan. Start with WhatFlow, and add Text later if on-site AI chat becomes a priority.

Questions worth asking

Is WhatFlow a good LiveChat alternative for Shopify?
